Once Upon a Time my daughter Ariel wanted a puppy. As the story goes this soon to be 16 yr old was asked "Ariel, would you rather have a car or a puppy?" "Why a puppy of course!" she answered. So "Tinka" belle was searched for far and wide. "I want a Yorkie-poo" Ariel was heard to exclaim over and over. My husband of course would mutter "I want a Man's dog, not some tiny fluffy frilly thing." however, he was overruled. Finally with alot of phone calls and searching we found her at a breeder and brought her home.
Everyone who met this teeny-tiny puppy fell in love at first site. She was well behaved and easy to train. And her glorious black and gold puppy fur soon grew out to a beautiful blue and silver wavy coat. It was so soft, unlike any puppy we knew. And soon folks were saying "I want a puppy just like "Tinka."
Well...having been a breeder of show cats for over 15 yrs, I thought, maybe just a litter or two. Soon the search was on for a Yorkie and another Yorkie-poo, and eventually a Tiny male poodle. That is how Darling "Nibs" and Tiger "Lily" became part of our family. And finally after looking for over a year Captain "Hook" was soon on the scene.
Legend has it that those 4 young puppies were all there was going to be at the Saville house. Yet while searching for breeding resourses Tonya (that's me) came across another breeder named Lori who lived near by, with vast experience and knowledge of breeding dogs. Soon Tonya and Lori were good friends. Well, Lori rescued dogs, and soon several more dogs were added to the Saville household. Now we have a Cairn Terrier named "Wibbles", another poodle named "Tootles" and still another named "Curley". Then "Lolli" a beautiful adult golden Yorkie joined the crew. And as "Nibs" and "Lolli" were going to be retired, once again the search was on. Lo and behold one right after the other two Yorkie puppies were added "Slightly" Soiled and "Pocket".
Now when visiting the Saville house, you will see dogs lounging on the couch, or any of the many dog beds placed around. You can see dogs flying out the dog door to chase the squirrels as they run back and forth on the fence taunting the dogs, and the dogs running back and forth barking at the squirrels. Some days swimming in the pool is on the agenda for those dogs that want to participate, and of course those days always include the popular run around the pool and bark at the swimmers, both human and hound.
At the end of the day when everyone settles down you will most often find my husband Greg, (remember no tiny fluffy things) relaxing in his recliner with 5 or so of our furry friend on his lap being brushed, or petted and generally loved and spoiled rotten! My husband claims they live in dog heaven. I just know we have raised happy and healthy parent dogs, who then raise happy and healthy puppies.
